| Beginning
in the mid 1800s, this mill was a vital part of the community.
The
original mill used an overshot wheel. However, when we restored
the mill in 1979, we converted it to a breast wheel which spills
the water over the wheel at mid-point. |
This
was done in order to be able to first use the fresh, cold
spring
water to raise Rainbow Trout for the fishout
and restaurant. |
| On
the milling floor are several artifacts from the 1800's and
1900's. |

Outside the mill you will find gears and pulleys left
from the era when a small sawmill was powered by the waterwheel.
| Our
restored mill is a working mill in several ways. The huge water
wheel at the side of the mill turns the stones that grind
cornmeal.
